There is a super awesome farmer's market and mall just around the corner from Jimmy's apartment. They had some cute Halloween/Harvest displays up at the farmer's market and even had a petting zoo.
Mom treated us all to dinner again. Thanks so much Mom!! Everyone went to different vendors for dinner. I have a huge amount of pictures like this of everyone engaging in various stages of eating- but I think these will suffice ;)
We love our frozen yogurt :)
We hadn't realized how much walking we'd be doing with Jimmy and didn't want to take up the space in the van with the double stroller- but we were repentant after Saturday night.
A pretty fountain at the mall that Sally was fascinated with. There are fountains like this all over Jimmy's complex and Sally was in total heaven :)
While we didn't end up using the swim stuff and beach toys that I'd packed because it was too rainy to enjoy the beach, the umbrellas I packed came in very handy.
Sophie loved this bush with the purple flowers and spent quite a long time admiring it- another reason we wish we'd brought the stroller- not only are little girls slow walkers because of little legs, they also stop to look at EVERYTHING!
The dismal scene welcoming us to the La Brea Tar Pits just a couple blocks from Jimmy's place.
In the same complex is the Los Angeles County Museum of Art which had these fun statues. We just walked the grounds because it was Sunday but next time we plan on checking out the art museum as well as the Tar Pits Museum that actually exhibits a current excavation site of the pits.
Just a minute after I took these photos, Shule went out on the water and fell right on his bum and got soaking wet.
The art museum.
Shazer found lots of fun trees to climb, and since the grounds had more of a park-like feel we let him go for it.
This is an active tar pit spot. Notice the tree covered in tar in the background. Boys better watch out!
Tar monster.
This was a CRAZY huge web we found hanging from some trees, the spider is in the center and just waiting for a butterfly lunch :(
