Carving Pumpkins

This was the first year that we let the boys have knives. In the past, the boys would draw the design they wanted on their pumpkins and Jon would then carve them. This year Jon was way too busy and I wasn't too thrilled with the idea of carving multiple pumpkins, plus Shule is a Boy Scout now, right? He should be able to handle a knife?! He actually did really well, no blood was spilt during the making of these pumpkins :) This was also the first year that Shule actually took the pumpkin guts out of his own pumpkin (I think that's one of the funnest parts). He's always been too squeamish in the past. My baby's growing up (and is almost as tall as me)!

Shazer, as usual, was frustrated that he didn't have natural mad skills at carving and that he couldn't do the intricate design he had planned out. After much venting, he went to bed upset and the next day Jon ended up carving a more simplistic version of the design he'd wanted.

Sally enjoyed taking out the pumpkin seeds and dictated how her design should look. She wanted the cat silhouette with two hearts on either side.

I'm wishing I had a little bit fancier camera to take some better pictures. Oh, well, it's still the best camera I've ever owned :)

This is just some weird, cool lighting effect from moving the camera ever so slightly.
