Sally (and Sophie by default) was invited to her first friend birthday party on August 24th for her friend, David, from church. It was held at the splash pad at the Desert Breeze Park. This is a great park that has a little pond, splash pad, huge jungle gym, carousel, and even a little train that goes along the tracks around the park.
It was difficult convincing Sophie to play in the water. Funny, seeing how she'll turn the shower on when she and her sister are taking a bath just to see Sally squeal in horror, or run through the sprinklers on the grass and get all muddy, or even splash around in the toilet (I had to fish three toys out of the toilet yesterday).
Sally was also timid but, as you can see, also delighted.
Little Emma (from nursery), Irene with David who turned two, Sally, and her best friend, Courtney. His mom (a nutritionist) made very wholesome muffins to munch on. David's favorite part was having everyone sing "happy birthday" so we indulged him with numerous encores- Sally loved that part, too.
Sally contemplating a ride down the slide...she ended up foregoing the ride in favor of burying her and her friend's shoes in the wood chips.
It was very hot, but definitely worth it :)
