My Baby Is One!

Sophie turned one year old on Sunday, September 13. Time sure flies! Here are some pictures taken after church. She really enjoyed playing with the balloons.

Sophie wasn't quite sure what to do with her presents but Sally was more than happy to show her how to unwrap them... and completely take over the job all together. Sophie didn't seem to mind at all, but she was definitely interested in the things inside the boxes. She loved the bath toys and outfits from Nana and Pop-Pop, the Little People from her siblings, the Peek-a-boo board book from her mom & dad, the Fisher Price roll around gumball machine musical toy from Austin and Tammy, and the huge bag of soft foam building blocks from Grandma Linda. Thank you, everyone! You're all so sweet!

She was also thrilled to get a tutu from Nana to match Sally's.

She wasn't too keen on posing for the camera, but Pop-pop was able to get some smiles (and giggles) out of her.

My mom gave me a special treat and made us all her special spinach lasagna so I wouldn't have to cook. YUM! Sophie is definitely a pasta lover.

Nana even made the birthday girl her cake- white with sprinkles and pink icing. Sophie tries so hard to fit in with the big people and eat with a fork/spoon but she often resorts to picking off pieces with her fingers and then placing them on the spoon or just ditching the utensil completely and digging in with her fingers.

Sally was jealous of Sophie at first. Her own birthday was so much fun and still fresh in her mind, so she was wanting it to be all about her again. My sister's birthday is also very close to mine so I could relate, but I explained to her how cool it is to have your sister have a birthday because you get to have all the fun and play with all the new toys, too. She seemed pretty satisfied with that summation and let her sister be the center of attention... for the most part of the day. ;)
