Thanksgiving 2010

I really thought that I had taken more pictures of Thanksgiving this year than I actually had. I know there was A LOT of picture taking going on. Here's proof that there was at least one other camera documenting the occasion, but I know Tammy should have some good ones of all of the Henderson siblings, and Gill was taking pictures of the Thwaits playing ping-pong at Anne's house. We typically have brunch with the Thwaits group on Thanksgiving day (Anne always makes fantastically yummy crepes) and then we have Thanksgiving dinner over at my parents' house with the rowdy Hendersons.

I brought paper with the beginnings of a turkey body for everyone to decorate as they waited for dinner- it was a big hit with all our artistic and competitive siblings

The little kids enjoyed it too :)

This year everyone came to Tucson from both sides of the family, except for Julie in Alaska (she'll be coming in for New Year's Day). Tammy and Austin told my mom that they would be spending Thanksgiving in Denver this year with Jonny but they surprised her by driving down the day before Thanksgiving. Jimmy also said that he wouldn't be able to make it but arrived in the afternoon on Thursday. From now on, every time that anyone says they won't be coming, no matter how sincere, Mom won't believe them.

We had lots of yummy food and lots of fun and games. There was a lot of driving back and forth over the four day break between Anne's house and my parent's house. I had a blast just hanging out and running errands with my mom and sister. It was so great just hanging out with everyone. We also enjoyed an early Christmas gift when my mom treated Jon and me to the newest Harry Potter movie- which we LOVED. I had told our boys that they need to actually read the Deathly Hallows before they can see the movie because they've never done that before and it's their last opportunity. They'd only gotten to chapter two by the time Jon and I went to see it, but after we came back raving about the movie, Shule finished the book in two days. Shazer is still slowly plugging along. He's a really busy kid and just hasn't had enough time yet. I'm hoping he'll be able to read more over the winter break and finish it so we can take them to see it before it leaves the theaters ;)

The kids had lots of fun playing with their cousins. The only bummer was that the youngest California cousin passed along her cold to Sally, who in turn passed it on to the rest of us :(
