Kiss Scotcheroos

There's this great blog that I subscribe to with all kinds of ideas for fun things to do with your kids; it's called Let's Explore. Anyways, I was sure that that was the site where I got this idea but when I just went back to find the blog about pink rice krispie treats shaped like Hershey kisses I couldn't find it, so perhaps it was somewhere else, I don't know. They used a small plastic funnel to make the shape and, what do you know, I had just recently bought some funnels at the dollar store! I thought the pink rice krispie treats were a little strange looking but I thought scotcheroos would work great. So here's the recipe:

1 cup sugar
1 cup clear Karo syrup
1 cup peanut butter
box of Rice Krispies
bag of butterscotch chips
bag of milk chocolate chips

Melt sugar and Karo syrup in a saucepan, bring to a boil, take off heat and stir in peanut butter. Pour over 7 cups of rice krispies and stir. Push the mix into the funnel while still warm and let cool on a piece of tin foil. Put the butterscotch chips and milk chocolate chips in a microwave safe container, heat 30 seconds and stir, heat 15 seconds and stir, heat another 15 seconds and stir ONLY if not all chips have melted. Spread the chocolate mix over the rice krispie treat and let cool fully before wrapping up with tin foil. Print out what ever message you want to put in your "kiss".

Sorry, this post is after the holiday. Maybe you could try it next year...or for another occasion to show you care :) OK, I found the post I was talking about, it was actually a link at the Let's Explore blog to another blog called RootsAndWingsCo:http://rootsandwingsco.blogspot.com/2009/02/day-10-rice-krispy-treats-as-kiss.html
