Last night was the Blue & Gold Banquet for the cub scouts. It turned out to be a pretty fun event. Shazer did a great job presenting the scout flag at the opening flag ceremony and was funny in his little skit that he did with his fellow cub scouts. It was kind of strange because Shazer has been in scouts now for almost a year but because the last Blue & Gold was held just before he came into the program he was presented last night as a "new" scout- along with half the scouts in attendance. Shule did a cute puppet skit with his fellow Webelos and handsome leader ;). Shule played the Loch Ness Monster with a sock puppet he made. Sorry we don't have any video- Jon was busy with the scouts a lot of the time and Sally & Sophie kept me busy and made it impossible- if only I had a few more hands. Sally loved the puppet show- almost too much-her squels of laughter were, at times, distracting from the performance. There was a lot of good food- it was a potluck with the theme being "foods from around the world". We took the first opportunity we've ever had to bring sushi (no, it wasn't homemade) to a church potluck and one of Jon's scouts brought Navajo flat bread- so yummy! Sophie started getting really fussy when we were eating and Sally was much more interested in trying to sneak away and explore the building than she was with the crayons and coloring pages I had brought for her. You win some, you lose some (although, lately it's definitely felt we've been losing more than winning with those girls). The highlights of the night were Shazer getting his wolf badge and when Shule was presented with his trophy for winning first place in the Pinewood Derby- he was beaming!

That trophy is SWEET! Ours were real metal, but they cost an arm and a leg and didn't look nearly as awesome.
ReplyDeletewow, you guys do trophies? because our leaders don't want to hurt anyon'es feelings, all the participants got matchbox cars..even the winners. sorry to be a little un p.c. but, come-on! ben doesn't win much, and maybe a certificate of first place would've been nice.
ReplyDeletehad to delete my other comment because i spelled jon's name wrong. can't imagine having my name spelled or pronounce wrong, can you marisa? so anyway, love the trophy, tepee, and your family is AWESOMW!
